Learn More About Invisalign Aligners

What are aligners made out of?

Aligners are made from thermoplastic material and look similar to teeth whitening trays. Aligners are clear and virtually undetectable.

How do aligners straighten my teeth?

Each set of aligner trays make subtle shifts in the position of your teeth. Overtime, your teeth will gradually move into alignment.

How do I take care of my aligners?

You can care for your aligners like you would a retainer or teeth whitening trays. Brush and wash them in lukewarm water.

How often do I have to wear the aligners?

Somewhere between 20 and 22 hours a day is ideal. Any less may lengthen the amount of time of your treatment.

FAQs about Invisalign®

What is Invisalign®? - Invisalign® is orthodontic treatment without the braces. With Invisalign you will receive a series of custom-made clear plastic aligners that are designed to slowly shift your teeth, little by little, into a beautifully straight smile!
What are the main benefits of Invisalign®? - The clear aligners are removable so they are easy to clean and it is also easy to brush and floss to maintain excellent oral hygiene throughout your treatment. Since you can remove the aligners when you eat, you can eat whatever you want without having the restrictions of traditional braces. There are no sharp brackets and wires to irritate your mouth.
How will Invisalign® move my teeth? – Dr. Wehle will develop a custom-made treatment plan with aligners that have been made to only move certain teeth at a time. The slightly different aligners that are switched-out every two weeks have been mapped-out to control the forces and timing of your teeth movement.
Will the aligners affect my speech? - The aligners may cause a slight lisp for a day or two but soon your tongue will adjust to the new feeling and your speech should return to normal.
Will treatment be painful with Invisalign®? – The first day or two of wearing a new aligner might come with some pressure and tenderness but this will lessen as your teeth get used to the movement.
How often will I have to see Dr. Wehle? – Dr. Wehle will decide how often you will need to be seen but generally patients can go six to 10 weeks between appointments.

You do not need a painful mouth full of metal to get the beautifully straight smile you have always wanted. Straighten your crooked teeth the easy and discreet way with Invisalign®. Call Dr. Wehle to schedule your consultation today!
